Sylvia Galbraith started Silver Creek Photography, located in Centre Wellington, in 1985. This area includes the scenic towns of Fergus and Elora, and is central to Guelph, Orangeville, Kitchener-Waterloo and the Toronto area.  Sylvia often travels to many parts of Canada and the US for assignments.  Her photographs exhibit a flair for creativity and imagination, while demonstrating a high degree of technical quality, whether shooting a wedding, aerial photographs or product illustrations for advertising or catalogues. Her experience as a news photographer taught her to work quickly, and anticipate fleeting moments, resulting in the capture of brief expressions or actions and creating an outstanding photograph.  Produced mainly in high end digital format, the photos display the finest quality possible.

Sylvia’s client list is long and varied, and includes many international corporations, national publications and governments of all levels, including companies whose employees number in the hundreds, as well as those owned by sole proprietors.  Her editorial photographs have been published worldwide. She supplies stock images of numerous subjects for use in publishing or advertising, with clients all over the world, and provides art prints for business and individual clients.  Her prints of local scenery are constantly in demand among visitors.  She produces images for artists’ portfolios, and works for several well-known painters and sculptors.  

This is a photographer of experience and versatility.  A typical week will include photographing various subjects, from a wedding on Saturday, to Thoroughbred stallions on Tuesday, and aerials and product photography on Friday, with perhaps a portrait session in between.  In all aspects of her work, Sylvia pays attention to detail and places the clients’ needs first and foremost.  She is used to working against tight deadlines and can produce images quickly if needed.

Sylvia has achieved an international reputation as an equine photographer.  Her clients include major national horse magazines, breeders, and individual horse owners. The stock photo collection features hundreds of images available for use in posters, editorial publications and advertisements for the horse industry.  She photographs all equine disciplines, including eventing, reining & cutting horses, barrel racing, dressage and driving competitions.  Her Equine Photography workshops are very popular.

Drawing from an educational background in the arts, she teaches photography workshops on various topics throughout the year and has written articles about the subject.

After almost thirty years working as a full time professional photographer, she has not lost her passion for the medium, and is inspired to produce the best possible images no matter what the assignment.
