Exploring Pinhole Photography
In-person Workshop, Saturday, Feb. 6, 2027.
1 to 4:30 pm
Location: 195 St.David St. S. (Fergus Marketplace Building, Level 2), Fergus, ON
Ages 19+
Rating: Beginner to advanced
Now for something completely different! Let’s take a walk into the past – to the very beginnings of photography, and the basic principles of light interacting with a dark space. A pinhole camera consists of a dark box with film inside and a tiny opening to let the light in. It’s what the cool kids are using these days 😎
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn about how a pinhole camera works, and compare the benefits of making your own or using a pre-made one. We’ll cover using film vs. photo paper, composing your photo without a viewfinder, and exposure considerations. Then you get to play… using the provided pinhole cameras, you’ll create still-life groupings in studio to photograph, or, weather dependent, maybe we’ll head outside for some scenic shots of the Grand River and downtown Fergus. We’ll finish up by processing our film and making a contact sheet for you to bring home. Guaranteed to be tons of fun. Limited to 4 participants. Includes the use of a camera and all supplies.
Fee: $200.00 + HST.
Register Online or call 519-827-7059 to register by phone.
